South Africa faces a myriad of challenges both economically and socially and we often feel overwhelmed about whether we can take a small step toward changing our futures.
At the core of almost every one of these social challenges is the underlying desire that people have, to be able to participate in the mainstream economy. We are involved in 2 social entrepreneurship projects at the moment with the intention of raising micro-funding to assist entrepreneurs through crowdfunding and there is the opportunity to assist both these entrepreneurs from as little as R100.
The Mzansi Spelling Bee
It is accepted that the South African education system is broken and we are not preparing graduates for the real world. However many of these challenges are centred around poor foundation phase education literacy. If a child can develop literacy skills, the world of education can open up in front of them.
The Mzansi Spelling Bee competition is aiming to feature 10 000 participants and for every R250 raised, kids from across the country are able to participate and secure learning material to help them improve their literacy at all levels.
